A morning walk along the old harbour
Leave before the cafés open and the old harbour belongs to the fishing boats and the gulls. Here is the walk we send our guests on.
From the quay to the lighthouse
Turn left out of the front door and follow the quay past the ice house. The boats come in between six and seven; if you are early you will see the first boxes of mackerel lifted onto the stones.
Slow down, look closely, and let the place set the pace.
Coffee on the way back
The bakery behind the customs house opens at seven. Take a cardamom bun to the bench at the end of the breakwater and watch the town wake up.
